About Me

A bit about me...

I'm a born-and-raised Australian with a Bachelor in Journalism and Creative and Critical Writing, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Editing and Publishing from USQ.

I've been writing full-length novels since I was fourteen, and have always known that being an author is the dream job for me.

In my spare time, I enjoy video games, drawing, collecting books (and even reading them), but my greatest passion will always be writing and escaping to the worlds in my head.

AUTHOR Q&A:

WHAT I WRITE:

Anything that moves me. Middle-grade/Young-adult, mental health stories, fantasy, children's fantasy, sci-fi, dystopian, and more. The genre doesn't matter to me so long as I love the story and the characters I've created.

WHY I WRITE:

I write because I have too many ideas packed into my head. I love thinking, daydreaming, and creating. I adore the English language and the art of stringing words together into something beautiful. Writing helps me deal with my anxiety, using stories to better understand the world around me. Reading has always been a hobby of mine, but I really enjoy creating my own worlds, and falling in love with characters who mean everything to me.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MY BOOKS:

Lovable, relatable characters; immersive world-building; natural dialogue; unbreakable love stories; mental health themes; and representation of different cultures and sexualities.

FAVOURITE TROPE:

Not a huge fan of tropes as for me, plot is everything. My books do feature common tropes, though it is rarely a conscious decision. But if I had to pick one, it would be 'opposites attract' as a lot of my love stories fall into this category.

FAVOURITE AUTHORS:

Jessica Townsend (Nevermoor), Soman Chainani (The School for Good and Evil), Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games), Veronica Roth (Divergent), Anne McCaffrey (Dragonriders of Pern).

FAVOURITE BOOKS:

Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend, The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery, Dragonquest by Anne McCaffrey,

The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Caging Skies by Christine Leunens, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher.

PUBLISHING GOALS:

To write as much as I can. To keep sending new books out into the world. To hopefully find a steady pace of releasing 1-2 books a year. To one day be someone's favourite author and, most importantly, to inspire others to write too.
